Which is better: PQWL/RLWL or GNWL

"I wish to carry out my journey next week  from Warangal to Bhopal in 12615 Chennai -NewDelhi Grand Trunk Exp.
For the time being for the date of journey, the reservation status says RLWL33/WL24.Shall I go ahead and book it or try another train??"

This may be usual question while booking a railway ticket for intermediate stations in a long route train.
To tackle such a situation we need to know little about the types of Waiting Quotas in Indian Railways.

GNWL: This is General Waiting List. This means the waiting list from origin station to last station or any intermediate station close to it.These is the quota which first gets cleared and chances for confirmation of ticket are thus higher.

RLWL/PLQL: These are Remote List Waiting List and Pooled Quota Waiting List resp. The chances for confirmation here are minimal as they will be cleared after GNWL are cleared .So its better to book the tickets on extended quota and get GNWL rather than getting it in RLWL/PQWL.

CKWL: It is Tatkal Waiting List. Here chances for confirmation are higher if its upto 10 waiting list i.e CKWL 10 else you may have to travel in waiting. One important point to note here is tatkal waiting candidate is allowed in train if only he possess a window ticket. For tatkal e-ticket one is not permissible to enter train as the amount is refunded back to passengers account after chart prep. if its still in waiting.
